Dr. Ilya Kuchuk Joins AsisChem, Inc. as the Chief Scientific Officer
Cambridge, MA - September 2, 2005 - AsisChem, Inc, a Cambridge based contract research organization specializing in custom chemistry services for drug discovery, today announced that Ilya Kuchuk, Ph.D. joined the management team as the Chief Scientific Officer on September 1, 2005. In his new role Dr. Kuchuk will oversee all research projects including new and existing custom synthesis work, design of diversity and focused libraries as well as development of new building blocks. "I am looking forward to contributing to the development of a successful, sustainable R&D infrastructure at AsisChem," said Dr. Kuchuk. "The Company is poised for significant progress in the field of custom chemistry services, and it is committed to building upon its successes to add significant value to our customers over the long term."
Dr. Kuchuk has over fifteen years experience in this area of research. Before joining AsisChem, Dr. Kuchuk worked for Starks Associates Inc. in Buffalo, NY, where he excelled in process development and became an expert in a wide range of custom R&D projects relevant to pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Prior to his work at Starks, Dr. Kuchuk worked with Prof. Armin de Meijere at G.-A. Universität, Göttingen, Germany, where he participated in a cooperative project with Bayer and developed a new productive approach for the synthesis of prospective enzyme inhibitors. Dr. Kuchuk earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from St. Petersburg State University, Russia. He completed postdoctoral fellowships at the Ohio State University and Indiana University.
