AsisChem Grows Rapidly in the Second Half of 2006.
Cambridge, MA - 12/15/2006 - AsisChem, Inc., a contract research organization (CRO) providing custom chemistry services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, today reported that it achieved record sales and signed a record number of new customers in the first, second and third quarters of 2006. "We are very excited to be helping biotechnology companies in their drug discovery efforts" said Dr. Ilya Kuchuk, AsisChem's Chief Scientific Officer. "Our chemists synthesized several focused libraries as part of hit-to-lead projects, and our customers are finding success in producing better lead compounds as a result".
AsisChem has grown considerably since inception, and in the last quarter it has added 4 internationally trained chemists to its research and development team. AsisChem's scientists are focused on custom synthesis projects as well as production of building blocks and screening compounds for orders from its large product catalog. Its research and development work is conducted in St. Petersburg, Russia, while it is focused on gaining new clients in the United States.
AsisChem's growth is inline with the overall pharmaceutical industry trend towards greater outsourcing of functions unrelated to biotechnology companies' core competencies. Many small to medium sized biotechnology companies are very focused on the science behind their drug candidates, and are not particularly concerned with specific chemistry problems that the synthesis of these compounds poses. They look to AsisChem and other companies in the CRO industry to leverage its chemistry expertise and solve these problems for them.
